Our beloved board member Jack Rivkin passed away on November 8 of pancreatic cancer.
We are devastated at the loss of this wise, kind and passionate friend, mentor and advisor.
Jack began his investment career as an analyst at Mitchell Hutchins. Over the course of his career, Jack held management positions at PaineWebber, Lehman Brothers Inc., Smith Barney, Citigroup Investments, Neuberger Berman and finally Altegris. He was also an executive adviser to Aquiline Capital Partners, adjunct professor of security analysis at Columbia University, and Director of the New York Society of Security Analysts, the World Policy Institute, LEDA, and multiple private companies.
Jack's contributions to Idealab were uniquely thoughtful, insightful, and actionable. We deeply appreciated Jack's candor, intelligence, passion and openness to new ideas. In addition, Jack was a true friend and mentor to many of us.
Jack, from all of us at Idealab, we are going to sorely miss you.
